The area around the Pyramids of Giza will be modernized

Egyptian authorities have moved towards implementing a project to modernize the territory that surrounds the famous Pyramids at Giza.

For this purpose 30 million dollars were allocated, says Zahi Hawass, secretary general of the Supreme Council for Antiquities in Egypt.

It is envisaged that the money will be for protection of one of the seven wonders of the world and also to take measures to protect tourists from possible terrorist attacks.

These include for example the installation of 200 video cameras and motion sensors within the Giza Plateau, Pyramids inauguration of a permanent fence with a length of 20 km. As there will not be permitted traders.

Every day, the pyramids at Giza are visited by tens of thousands of people worldwide.
