Swaminarayan is the founder of the Swaminarayan Sampraday. He established temples called mandirs which are known as Swaminarayan Temples. They were part of his phylosophy of diety and theism.
At first there are nine temples that he constructed in the following cities: Ahmedabad, Junagadh, Bhuj, Muli, Vadtal, Gadhpur & Jetalpur Dholera, Dholka. The different Hindu gods were installed as images in those temples - Madan Mohan Dev, RadhaKrishna Dev, NarNarayan Dev, LaxmiNarayan Dev, RadhaRaman Dev, etc.
In 1822 the first Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was constructed in Ahmedabad on a land gifted by the British Imperial Government. After that Shri Swaminarayan temples were constructed in other areas – in Bhuj, Vadtal, Dholera, Junagadh, Gadhada, etc.
Actually these days there are hundreds of Swaminarayan temples that can be visited in different countries – Australia, Canada, India, Kenya, Sweden, United Kingdom and so on.
