Schönbrunn Palace – Vienna, Austria

The Schoenbrunn Palace is one of the most significant cultural landmarks in Austria since 1960. It is one of the most visited sights of Vienna. It lies west of the center of Vienna District Hietzing.

The name Schönbrunn which means “beautiful well“, has its roots from an artesian well from which water was consumed by the court.

Legend tells that the Emperor Matthias, when seeing it the first time, called out “What a beautiful well!”.

Main attraction in the palace is the oldest existing zoo in the world, the Vienna zoo.

In 1996 the castle and its gardens became part of the UNESCO World Heritage designation.

The Schoenbrunn Palace is definatelly place to visit on your trip to Austria.
