Socotra Archipelago is part of a group of four tropical islands, isolated from the land of Africa into the Indian Ocean. The four islands that make the Archipelago are: Socotra (the main Island), Abd al Kuri, Samhah and Darsa.

On the Socotra islands you can see 700 hundred extremely rare species of flora and fauna, one third of which can not be found anywhere else. It is a unique place to visit! The islands are recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

Lately, Socotra has been visited by all kinds of tourists. Since 1999 the island has its own airport. Before that the island could only be reached with boats and ships. Sometimes from May till September the island can be totally isolated because of the monsoon winds.

Since 1999 only 140 tourists have visited the islands. Now the annual amount of tourists is over 2500. If you decide to visit, you should now that there are only 4 hotels, 2 gas stations and very little amount of public restrooms.

Although Socotra islands are small, you would need to hire a guide if you want to travel around.
