Cyprus will promote wedding tourism

Cyprus will promote wedding tourism. The advertising campaign is now focused on future couples mainly from Russia. The initiative is by the local authorities in two of the most famous resort towns in Cyprus – Ayia Napa and Paralimni, in cooperation with their tourist organization. In a recent meeting the municipal council decided to organize additional advertising to attract particularly Russian citizens.

The wedding offer include marriage, honeymoon for the newlyweds and holiday for their families in Ayia Napa and Paralimni. The beaches along this coast were declared the most preferred by tourists in the international ranking last year.

The beginning of the advertising campaign was launched with a visit of Cypriot representatives in Moscow, where they met with Russian tour operators. According to the councilors and the tourism organization in 2012 is expected strong interest in weddings.

Last year the Russian tourists in Cyprus were more than 330,000. According to the official Cypriot statistics the Russian travelers spend an average of nearly 950 euros when they were on a vacation.
