Statue of Liberty – New York City, USA

The Statue of Liberty National Monument was given to the United States nation by the people of France in acknowledgement of the friendship established during the American Revolution. It was put together and completed in October 28, 1886. The designer of the Statue is the french sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi (August 2, 1834 – October 4, 1904) and the constructor is Gustave Eiffel who build the Eiffel Tower.

The Statue of Liberty is one of the most popular american symbols and it personify the freedom. The monument is 46,5 meters high and is situated on the Liberty Island. Some say that the sculptor used his mother’s face and the body of his beloved one as a model.

The idea of the statue is to welcome the visitors and the emigrants.
